THUNDERCATS

My prayers have finally been answered! Somebody actually made a THUNDERCATS Fan Film!! The funny thing is that the film was originally released in 2001. In 2001,, the short won first prize in Wizard World's short film contest. Now, this buried treasure has finally been released for all of Us to enjoy in 2005! The film by Director Colin Coughenour, and produced by Scary Stuff Productions and Nameless Entertainment, is a live action version of the popular 80's cartoon, THE THUNDERCATS. Being a huge Thundercats fan as a kid, and still to this day, I was delighted to find this puppy while surfin' the web. The short shows Thundera being destroyed, and The Thundercats left stranded on a mysterious new planet. Once there, The Thundercats team is attacked by Mumm-Ra and His evil horde of Mutants. The costume work looks good, even though many of the costumes were altered to look better on screen. For example, Lion-O finally gets to wear a pair of pants, and a majority of the other Thundercats uniform colors are darkened. We also get to see some of Your fave Mutants, like Slithe and Jackalman. The film uses some cool special effects for The Sword of Omens transformation, as well as a clip of a speeding Cheetara in action. Last but not least this film has something very important when making an action based Fan Film..well executed acrobatics and fight choreography! This holds especially true when you are looking to mimic the rapid, and fluid motion of animation. All in all, this short is a winner, and does Us Thundercats fans very proud.
